Itinerary

You are welcome to arrive as early as you need to changed, get fitted for life jackets and river shoes, apply sunscreen, and prepare for the trip. We have changing rooms and lockers for your use. Be ready to meet your driver and load the shuttle at your scheduled departure time.

Your driver/photographer will take you on a quick overview trip of the section of river you will be floating before dropping you off. Along the way they will point out highlights and provide tips to have a successful river tubing adventure.

Bump, spin and splash your way through the rocks, rapids and calm pools on your self-guided tour of the downtown Pagosa river park. At high flows, you can expect to have an "out-of-tube" experience. At low flows you'll need to steer your tube to stay in the deepest waters.

Wrap Up, Go Again, or Soak It In Your trip finishes at the downtown Hippy Dip hot springs, giving you the freedom to enjoy the river your way. Take a soak, relax by the water, or jump right into your complimentary second lap—no waiting around for shuttle vans or wondering when you'll get picked up. Many guests choose to squeeze in a second lap while they're already wet and having fun. Others take their time enjoying the river before heading back to the shop. Once you're done, we'll have your complimentary photos on the way to your inbox. Be sure to stop through the retail shop before you leave and grab a Pagosa Outside t-shirt, hat, or sticker to remember your day on the river.

  • Duration: 2 to 3 hrs
  • Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate
  • Requirements: Competent swimmer in cold moving water

  • Season: Tubing starts when the river drops consistently below 400cfs. This usually happens in late June – early July. If the river is above 400's, we will be offering our guided rafting trips.

 

 

These all-inclusive whitewater tubing trips include everything you need except a sense of adventure – our scheduled shuttle service, a trip through the downtown whitewater park and beyond, free lockers, free life jacket and river shoe rentals and digital photos of your adventure.

Deluxe Tube Trips run at scheduled departure times and have limited capacity. There will still be “same day” availability when we aren’t full. Book online or give us a call to make a reservation before you show up for your shuttled tube trip. Come cool off on the river in Pagosa today!

 

What the River Flow Means For Tubing

The River Gauge in Pagosa gives flow in CFS – cubic feet per second. River levels can fluctuate daily based on snow melt and rainfall.

 

  • 30-90 = low: stay in the deepest current, lots of rocks to dodge
  • 90-180 = medium:  our favorite tubing level
  • 180-400 = high: rowdy fun for adventure seekers, you’re gonna flip!
  • above 400 = Rafting!

Of course! The River in Pagosa is has rocks, drops, rapids and deep pools. You should be prepared for the possibility of flipping over in your tube and being able to self-rescue.
Dress to get wet, like a day at the beach. Sunshirts and swimsuits are recommended. Wear secure footwear or grab our river shoes. Don't bring anything you'd hate to lose to the river unless it's secured. We sell drybags, floating phone cases and sunglass retainers in the shop.
The average float time really depends on the daily river flows and how much you stay in the downstream current vs. just going with the flow. You've got 3 hours so relax and go with the flow or run multiple laps!
Yep! We include digital trip photos with every Deluxe Tubing Trip. They’ll be emailed to the person who made the booking after your float.
Yes! Waivers must be completed before arrival to keep check-in smooth. You’ll receive a waiver link in your confirmation email.
Every family’s comfort level is different, and we’ve got options to help make your trip awesome—like kid-size life jackets and double tubes for floating together. We see plenty of brave youngsters having a blast, and also the occasional adult who gets humbled by a splashy rapid. This trip is best for kids (and grown-ups) who are confident in the water and ready for the possibility of flipping in one of the rapids.
Yes—this is tubing! Anything you take on the river should be secured and waterproof. We sell floating phone cases, small drybags and sunglass straps in the shop if you want to bring essentials.
Nope! This is a self-guided float, but don’t worry—we’ll give you the full rundown in the shop and your shuttle driver will help to send you out confident and ready ... we’ve helped 10's of thousands of tubers have a fantastic day on the river.

River Conditions

Flows can fluctuate daily. Higher water means rowdy fun that's not great for small kids or Grandma! Lower flows mean more active maneuvering around rocks to stay in the deepest flow. Check the river gauge before you go.
