Tube Rental Details and Recommendations

  • Rental Duration: 3 Hours or Full day
  • Difficulty: Easy, Intermediate
  • Requirements: Competent swimmer in cold moving water
  • Rental Gear: Life jackets, river shoes and lockers available for rent
  • Season: Tubing starts when the river drops consistently below 400 cfs. This usually happens in late June – early July. If the river is above the 300's, we will be offering our guided rafting trips.

Pagosa Springs tube rentals can be booked online anytime and tubers can walk directly across Main St. from our shop to the best 1/2 mile of river to float. The river walk runs along the entire section and you can walk back up and run as many times as you’d like. There are multiple town parks, 3 whitewater features and free riverside hot springs all within 1/2 a mile. Our favorite Pagosa tubing trip starts with a short walk upstream to Cotton Hole Park. Float downstream through the whitewater park and exit the river across from the Hot Springs Resort at Centennial Park.

If you have 2 cars or someone that will drop you off and pick you up, the float can be as long as 2 miles. Our favorite float for driving is from River Center Park down to Town Hall or even as far as Yamaguchi Park when water levels are over 180cfs. Looking for a tubing shuttle? What the River Flow Means For Tubing

The River Gauge in Pagosa gives flow in CFS – cubic feet per second. River levels can fluctuate daily based on snow melt and rainfall.

  • 30-90 = low: stay in the deepest current, lots of rocks to dodge
  • 90-180 = medium:  our favorite tubing level
  • 180-400 = high: rowdy fun for adventure seekers, you’re gonna flip!
  • above 400 = Rafting!

River Conditions

Flows can fluctuate daily. Higher water means rowdy fun that's not great for small kids or Grandma! Lower flows mean more active maneuvering around rocks to stay in the deepest flow. Check the river gauge before you go.
