Mission
Raft Guides, Drivers and Shop Staff
When we started at Pagosa Outside almost two decades ago, our vision was clear but humble. As a small-town Pagosa Springs river outfitter, we wanted to provide professional rafting and river tubing experiences that we’d be proud to share with our own friends and family. Growing up in Pagosa Springs, we dreamed of creating a vibrant river community in a town where that culture didn’t yet exist. We set out to build more than just a business; we wanted to create a family and culture of skilled, knowledgeable and passionate Pagosa river guides. Most importantly, we wanted them to share the magic of floating on the River in Pagosa, knowing that once someone experiences a quality Pagosa rafting trip or a day of Pagosa River tubing, they would be forever connected to the beauty of this free-flowing mountain river. We started with little more than passion and grit—a raft guide with a decade of nomadic wave chasing and a recent college grad navigating student loans. Along the way, life blessed us with two amazing daughters who have become our biggest inspiration. Today, it’s inspiring to see how far we’ve come. From humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of the Pagosa Springs river scene, we’re proud of the journey and excited for all the adventures still to come.

Every family’s comfort level is different, and we’ve got options to help make your trip awesome—like kid-size life jackets and double tubes for floating together. This trip is best for kids (and grown-ups) who are confident in the water and ready for the possibility of flipping in one of the rapids.
Will my stuff get wet?
Yes—this is tubing! Anything you take on the river should be secured and waterproof. We sell floating phone cases, small drybags and sunglass straps in the shop if you want to bring essentials.
Is a guide coming with us?
Nope! This is a self-guided float, but don’t worry—we’ll give you the full rundown in the shop and your shuttle driver will help to send you out confident and ready ... we’ve helped 10's of thousands of tubers have a fantastic day on the river.

Great outfitter to do business with. Very flexible in the event Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. After trying to raft or tube (water too low) they helped us with inflatable kayaks. Awesome! Teenage boys had a blast on Lake Hatcher. Relatively simple transport, inflate, and deflate. They were super friendly and helpful.

DO THIS! Affordable family fun!! Pagosa Outdoors has high quality durable tubes (not like a walmart floaty but like river raft material) and rental includes river shoes & life-vest too. They have great gift-shop stuff too, and they dont price gouge on lil things you mighta forgot like sunscreen chapstick, sunhat, drysack for phone. Everyone is super friendly and the float is a TON of fun (even with the river low). Pro-tip: grab a sturdy river stick to help navigate low spots)

We rented a tandem kayak and had it for 24 hours. We were allowed to pick it up the day before so that we could have it overnight. It was surprisingly easy to inflate and deflate and they even gave us two inflators so we could work on it together. They supplied paddles and life jackets. We went and explored lake Hatcher and had just the best day! The staff was informative and helpful and the experience couldn't have been better!

The staff was fantastic. They gave great advice and were super fun to work with! My 10 year olds had a great time tubing in the river and splashing in the hot springs. The full fun experience only cost us the price of the tube rental because playing in the city park and the river and hot springs there was free. Thanks Pagosa Outside and the whole community of Pagosa Springs for such a great day! I wish I had photos to add…but we had too much fun to worry about taking pictures.

We rented a tandem kayak from Pagosa Outside. The website was easy to navigate and the online reservations were simple. It was great to sign waivers online before arriving as well. The team at Pagosa Outside gave us the information we needed to know how to inflate the kayak, deflate it, and pack it back up. They had suggestions on where to go as well. It only took about 5 minutes to inflate the kayak and we were out on the water. Everything we needed was provided, including the kayak, paddles, pump and life jackets. The return process was just as easy when we came back. Would highly recommend them.

We were staying at the Springs Resort and appreciated that this was walking distance within town. Pagosa Outside also has lockers so you can leave keys, phone, etc. behind. We booked the tubing package where you met at the Pagosa Outside store, they dropped you off at the river, and picked you up at the bottom. Many people on the river just rented tubes only and didn't know about the drop-off option... It seemed like a struggle to walk 1+ mile with a heavy tube, so I was quite pleased to have booked the transportation. Before drop-off, our guide also gave a brief tour of the town and showed us specifically where to meet at the bottom of the river which was very helpful. They also took a few pictures of us on the river and shared same-day via Google drive which was a nice touch, especially given we didn't have our phones. During our end-of-June visit to Pagosa Springs, no one in town was offering rafting trips due to low water levels.... we should've taken that as a clue that tubing would be similarly uncomfortable and challenging! There were many areas where I got stuck on rocks, but it was particularly concerning when this happened right before a steep drop-off into the rapids. Many people flipped off their tube on these drops, which felt very dangerous... I was expecting a leisurely float with a drink in hand, and this was not it! Overall, Pagosa Outside did a good job coordinating the experience, but I would not do this again with the same water levels, or without a helmet.

What a wonderful experience with these folks! So nice and informative. We booked our reservation on line and everything was seamless. They informed us that the water level was low for this time of year and saved us some time negotiating the river.

Super friendly and helpful people. Easy booking of rentals online. I love the small town feel of this place. They have lockers, or you can just leave your keys in the bucket . Easy access to the park across the street. The river was REALLY low which made it difficult to float, but my daughter and I still enjoyed getting in the cool crisp water.

Our guides were entirely awesome and hilarious. Monica had excellent stories throughout the trip, some more true than others 😆. Phenomenal experience with top-notch staff. Tobi answered all of our questions and made sure our booking went smoothly. Monica was witty when explaining procedures. Reece was friendly and had great info to share. Zach was our actual guide on the water. He was excellent, pointing out interesting plants and animals as we went. Bryce took photos (which come complimentary with the trip!) that captured the fun. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely visit again.

What a great experience! From start to finish, the staff and guides were friendly, considerate and helpful. Safety was a priority, but was communicated in a way that wasn’t overwhelming. Our guide Zack was skilled in his navigating and ensured we all had a great ride. He humored my endless stream of questions, and gave so much history and inside knowledge of the river and surrounding area. My only disappointment was that the trip had to come to an end. 10/10 would book again. Highly recommend.

Must-Do Adventure in Pagosa Springs! We have done the Splash and Dash rafting with Pagosa Outside on three different trips now and everytime it has been an absolute blast. The guides are so much fun, safety is first despite the hilarious t-shirts in the shop, and the kids love it. The Pagosa Outside crew captures amazing photos of you while rafting and provides them to you after the trip, which is such a nice touch and a way to capture those memories while being fully present in the experience. The photography is really amazing, far better than anything I would get with my phone!
