July and August bring hotter weather and lower river flows to the Pagosa area. Mellow scenic rafting trips are a great way to relax and unwind. For the more adventurous, inflatable kayak tours are an exciting way to get out and cool down. We also offer inflatable kayak rentals for experienced river runners to get out on their own.
Montezuma Canyon Raft Trip – 2/3 Day
“A Lazy Late Season Float” Take a fun relaxing float through the sandstone canyons downstream from Pagosa. Go for a swim, jump off cliffs, get a suntan, and admire the beauty of the San Juan. Let your worries drift away while the guide does all the work.

Montezuma Inflatable Kayak Tour – 2/3 Day
“No Experience Required” This ‘ducky’ trip runs in conjunction with our regularly scheduled raft trip, but is great for folks looking for a little more excitement than simply relaxing on a raft. You get to captain your own inflatable kayak down the mild waters of Montezuma Canyon. Lots of families split their group between the raft trip and the kayak tour. Some of the group can relax on the raft while those looking for more adventure can paddle their own craft, but everyone can still be on the same trip. Tandem kayaks are available upon request.

Inflatable Kayak Tour – 1/3 Day
“Learn to Paddle your Own Boat” Inflatable kayaks are fun, stable, and forgiving boats that enable inexperienced paddlers to safely experience the thrills of river running. You will tackle the river along with an instructor who will take the edge off your learning curve. Start with paddling instruction on a pond, move to a mellow stretch of river to learn the basics, and finish on the rapids downtown to test your new skills.
